Chapter Nine: Muscadet

The restaurant was called Blackbeard's and it was indeed a seaside eatery that was perfect for the occasion. The tanks of lobsters, the candlelit tables, and the flaming torches at the entrance on the beach, were enough to set the mood for any romantic occasion. This was fine dining for a reasonable price.

Set up like a long hut with a straw roof, the interior was wooden, and painted a brilliant sky blue. There were twelve tables inside, three outside, and attached to the interior and to the right was a large kitchen where chef and cooks were at work preparing meals, and there was also a simple but fully stocked bar to the left.

Only three of the other tables inside had patrons eating, and they were all couples, young and tanned. Hans and Teera sat at a table enjoying an entree of mussels and oysters, which were fresh and topped with squeezed lemon.

Strucker carefully assisted Teera by gently scooping the oysters and mussels loose from the cool shells, feeding them to her from a small fork. Teera looked into his handsome, alluring eyes as he fed her the fresh aphrodisiac, savouring the flavour for a moment on her tongue, before gently biting down and chewing slowly.

“You have by far, the most beautiful eyes I have seen. You are truly breathtaking. The eyes of a queen,” Strucker said. Teera smiled.

“You’re quite handsome yourself, Mr Strucker,” Teera replied, thoroughly enjoying the gifts from the sea.

“Do you know, that tomorrow morning I have some very important work to do? I have however decided, with great satisfaction I might add, not to go. Work is so boring, is it not? Especially when it involves doing something you are really not too sure you should be doing. I have decided... ” Strucker fed Teera another oyster and she smiled.

“...that I don’t particularly care what people want me to do, and I am in a rather unique position to make such decisions, so I have decided I would much rather spend the day with you,” Strucker said, with a large grin on his face.

Teera smiled, leaning across the table.

“You know, that sounds like a wonderful idea,” Teera said. Strucker shrugged.

“I thought you might concur. I’m not entirely sure why I have become so smitten with you, nonetheless I am enjoying myself and there are plenty of things that I would rather be doing with you. Perhaps I have mourned for my wife and daughter for long enough. Perhaps I should relax and enjoy myself,” Strucker said. Teera placed a hand on his.

“How did it happen?” Teera asked. Strucker thought for a moment before shaking it off.

“How is not important. They are gone and they are not coming back. I have no desire to mourn in your ears, I would simply rather push it aside. Just for now,” Strucker asked, as the waiter approached, filling their wine glasses with white wine. Strucker lifted his glass, holding the glass under his nose and taking in the crisp bouquet.
